FOCCUS Questionnaire
We recommend that engaged couples complete a
questionnaire called FOCCUS prior to the start
of the course.
The questionnaire raises important issues that
they have not usually considered and therefore
increases the benefit to them of doing the course.
They absorb more of the teaching and gain more
from their conversations with their fiancé(e).
The aim of FOCCUS is to facilitate open and honest
communication between the couple. It is not a
test, nor is it a predictor of success or failure
in marriage. It is a tool to help couples identify
and work through the particular areas they will
benefit from discussing prior to getting married.
The FOCCUS questionnaires will be administered
by the course facilitator. Each couple’s
responses remain anonymous while being processed
and the results are kept confidential. The couple
then has the opportunity to meet a married couple
(a ‘support couple’) outside the course
on a separate evening to look through and discuss
their results.
