| With
two out of every five marriages breaking
down in the UK, thirty five per cent
of them within the first six years,
the institution of marriage is under
threat today. The aim of The Marriage
Course is to help reverse the decline
by enabling married couples to build
a healthy marriage that will last
a lifetime.
The eight-session course was pioneered
in 1996 at Holy Trinity Brompton,
London. The Marriage Course involves
a candlelit dinner, a talk and an
opportunity for each couple to discuss
a wide variety of issues relating
to married life. The course is intended
for happily married couples as well
as those experiencing difficulties
and is designed for non-churchgoers
as well as churchgoing couples.
Topics covered on the course include
Building Strong Foundations, The Art
of Communication, Resolving Conflict,
The Power of Forgiveness, Parents
and In-Laws, Good Sex, and Love in
Action.
The course has already been completed
by more than a 1,000 couples at Holy
Trinity Brompton, London and is now
running in over 175 venues across
the UK.
The Marriage Course manual has been
translated into 7 other languages
and is being run in 13 countries around
the world including the United States,
Canada, Belgium, Malta, Sweden, Australia,
New Zealand and South Africa.
